Nourishment for the body and mind.

As I continue to edit photographs and video of my time in Thailand, I continue to get inspiring stories from Pam and Ashley from Thailand on their continued experiences with the kids of the CPDC village. Pam has spearheaded a new effort to bring to the children something she does well and enjoys, bringing nourishment to people. This time, it includes the daily needs of food as well as an investment in the nourishment of the mind and the future of some lucky kids. Here is Pam’s initiative in her own words…
There was a children’s day at our CPDC Village last week. Children from the slums were brought in to enjoy games, food, and laughter. These children are the epitome of the poorest of the poor.
There were two girls in particular ages about 3 and 4 that Ashley and I spent the entire day with. They arrived with open sores and cuts on their soiled bodies. We cleaned them up, took care of the wounds, and even brushed their teeth. It was the first time either of them had brushed their teeth and it was a bit comical and messy. Nonetheless we had fun trying it.
The day ended and we loaded everyone up in the truck for their return. We soon learned that those two little girls are abused and neglected by their drug addicted mother. That night I cried because my heart was more broken than it has ever been.
It is more important than ever that 3L has the continuous funds to support this mission and be able to bring in every child that needs a safe place to Live, Learn, Laugh, and Love.
We want to find 500 people to give at least $100 each. Proto’s Pizza will match the funds given, and perhaps another company will step forward to do some matching funds as well.
The $50,000 funds we will try to raise will be broken down as follows : $10,000 will be put aside for a scholarship fund for kids who graduate high school and show promise and desire to go on to college. The remaining $40,000 will go to feeding the children 3 meals a day for 6 months. Protos Pizza will do a funds-match for the resources given to the food portion of the program so we can feed everyone for 1 full year.
