Pam’s Field of Merigolds
20.10.2010
Both Pam and Ashley have sent me some thoughts they would like me to post on the blog. The wonderful experiences they are having continue to move them and they hope they can convey the substance of their lives with the kids. Here are some of Pam’s thoughts and experiences of the last few weeks.
From Pam,
It’s been a sweet return here to Pattaya. We have welcomed the arrival of 6 new children to the village. They arrived with the look of ‘ I don’t know what I’m doing here’ in their eyes. At this point we make sure to hold their hands and bring them into the group fold. It does not take long for them to begin to smile.
The SALA is nearing completion. It is magnificent and built entirely with funds from the 3L Foundation and our supporters. We declined all offers of financial help from other groups. Primarily because our vision was and is very clear on the SALA. We wanted a space that will allow many children and adults to eat in a clean safe place, but to also gather as a community.
What’s next.? We will begin to lay out our vision and plans for 2011. One thing that is planned is a fund raiser dinner in Boulder Colorado. We are thinking of the ‘Ultimate Pizza Party’ to be held at Protos Pizza in August 2011. Look for more info on this to come.
On the route we take to town there lies a beautiful filed of Marigolds. It was not there on prior trips. All things are green here. The trees, grasses, and rice fields, so when a color block of orange opens up it’s hard not to notice. We stopped one day to say hello to the farmer attending the field and to ask permission to take photos. You know the old saying take time to stop and smell the roses, well here we took time to smell and walk through the marigolds. I was welcomed into the field by the farmer. I wandered among the rows of flowers and took pictures at will. When we are allowed to enter the private lives of the thai people we are honored and grateful. Now every time we fly past the marigolds on our scooters we slow down just enough to enjoy the best smelling hundred meters along road and give the farmer a beep and a wave. Lovely Marigolds. The scent is comforting. Someday I will plant them in my yard as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read our words. Please forward our web site to anyone you like.
Peace,
Pam
