The Sala’s Progress
19.10.2010
The dining sala begins to emerge from lines on page and abstract structural elements into a recognizable form. It gives all of us endless delight to see this building coming along so well and for it to be growing into a such beautiful form. Traditional Thai architecture has such a wonderful beauty about it. While being modern and useful for today’s needs, the soul of an inviting, proud culture adorns every line, every curve, and every threshold.
Pam and Ashley sent these pictures of the structure as it stands now as well as the progress made to get to this point. They do so having to endure rather harsh weather, including long, strong thunderstorms which often knock out power and the Internet connection. Despite the difficulties, the kids are so glad to see them and all our old friends at the CPDC greet Pam and Ashley as though no time has passed since their last meeting. New faces at the CPDC village are getting to know Pam and Ashley and make new friends. They do so while watching their new dining sala come alive, soon to be used to nourish bodies and spirits.
Often, especially in matters of practicality, beauty is often looked upon as an elitist luxury. It was always important for Pam, Ashley and I to make sure that this building was beautiful and a representative of our hearts expression of love for these great kids. With your help, we have been able to make it a reality.
It just a few months ago we stood on an open plane of soil and wondered what would grow out of the place where three shovels full of soil were moved. To have a tangible edifice of our intent to now cast a recognizable shadow on the ground where we walked just a few months ago warms our hearts.
A wonderful project is coming to fruition. We still very much need your help and support. This month, we are also very glad to report we have received formal acceptance of our non profit status. As such, we hope to continue to raise the funds needed to keep the project moving and establish the building for its indented pursue on time.
We hope you will continue to follow this project and others we have in the works. We are grateful for your interest and kindness in support of 3L Foundation.
